Emmanuel Obeta is an accomplished and results-oriented executive with over 30 years extensive experience leading corporate marketing, communications, brand management, leadership and strategic operations for multimillion-dollar companies like Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola, Guinness – Diageo, Globacom, FirstBank, UBA and Federal Inland Revenue Service.


He has proven turn around successes in creating and directing high-profile marketing campaigns from inception to completion, conducting high-profile events, and fostering professional relations (Stakeholders, Government, Commercial) to meet organisational bottom-line objectives. He is adept and prominent for executing successful products/brands launches. Instrumental in producing and distributing marketing materials across all platforms, maintaining customer databases, and conducting market research to enhance overall business performance.

Emmanuel has interestingly experienced some epoch moments in his career like at Coca Cola where he was part of the team that successfully launched Fanta Lemon into the Nigerian market as well as part of several Market Impact Teams that drove sales across the company to achieve landmark targets at various times.

At Guinness – Diageo he was part of the team that successfully launched the first ready to drink Gin; Gordons Spark within the African market. He was also part of the team that rolled out the Diageo Way of Brand Building across the entire African market. Conducted the first Retail Outlet Census for all retail outlets selling beer, malt and soft drinks for Guinness Nig Plc across the country; initiated and launched the concept of the Malta Guinness mini depots in the Northern parts of Nigeria as well as an Automated CRM package for the Salesmen in Guinness Nig Plc.

At FirstBank he was the pioneer Brand Manager that led the Bank transformation and Re Branding agenda; the first of its kind within the Nigerian Banking Industry in consonance with Leker Alder Consulting and Enterprise IG- South Africa.

At UBA he was part of the team that introduced the first Bank Affinity card with Arsenal, spearheaded the launch of the first Visa Dual currency debit card in the Nigerian market, championed the Nigerian Dragon Dens project initiated and sponsored by the bank; managed the sponsorship and launch of the first AMAA (African Movies Award Academy) across Africa; won the Super brands Award at both FirstBank and UBA; introduced and launched the UBA Bank in Benin Republic among many other ground breaking initiatives.

The communication strategies introduced by him at the Federal Inland Revenue Service won the OECD’s award and was recommended to all member nations as one of the innovations to copy in ensuring effective taxpayer education and communication.

 

Mr Obeta is a PROSCI Certified Change Management Expert, a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management London, Chartered Institute of Marketing Nigeria, Member Nigeria Institute of Management and Member Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.

 

He started lecturing Post Graduate students of ESUT Business School in Brand Management in 2000. He was one of the facilitators of the Diageo Way of Brand Building across West, East and Southern Africa. He maintained a column in Nigeria’s foremost Financial Newspaper Financial Standards in Brands and Marketing before it was rested and is currently a weekly columnist with the Independent Newspaper on Brands and Marketing. His book Optimal Brand Performance; Why some brands fail and others succeed is about to be published.

 

Mr Obeta relishes playing badminton in his spare moments.

 

Academically he has a B.Sc (Hons) In Mass Communication, an MBA in Marketing and Business Administration and an MSc in Marketing.
